Update: German Legal Claim

Two members of the Coalition for Responsible Sharing, the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Elsevier, are asking the Regional Court in Munich, Germany, to clarify ResearchGate’s copyright responsibilities. The second hearing before the court takes place today, 10 October 2018. The court case began in April this year. Concurrently, ACS and Elsevier have also asked the US courts to address ResearchGate’s copyright responsibility.

ACS and Elsevier Ask US Courts to Address ResearchGate’s Copyright Responsibility

Two members of the Coalition for Responsible Sharing, the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Elsevier, have taken legal action in the United States to address ResearchGate’s responsibility for copyright infringements on its site. A legal claim was filed on 2nd October 2018 with the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. The action seeks to hold ResearchGate responsible for violating U.S. copyright law regarding final published articles in ACS and Elsevier journals. Both scholarly publishers filed a claim in Germany against ResearchGate in October 2017, which is still ongoing.

Atlantis Press Joins the Coalition for Responsible Sharing

Atlantis Press, a young and quickly expanding Open Access publisher of academic proceedings, journals and books in various scientific, technical and medical fields, today joins the Coalition for Responsible Sharing.

Membership of the Coalition has now trebled to 15 organizations since its founding in October 2017. Atlantis Press is the sixth new member to join the group this year.
